The Time is Now to liberate our authentic frequency and presence into the world. The Time is Now to raise consciousness through the power of voice. The Time is Now to hold our space with ease and grace, and to let our Truths flow out without censoring, compromise or aggression driven by the frustration of not being heard. This workshop is a journey of vocal release, activation and empowerment, so that all of us may perform our Highest Service most effectively.
Through sonic meditation and internal sound healing, we will find our authentic voices, our signature frequencies, our heart’s notes, to resonate magnetically from in our everyday lives. Come experience the incredible healing that your own voice can facilitate, and know that as you heal yourself, you release the codes of consciousness for all people to do so. Join the sacred sound movement!

Kirtan with Kirtan Soul Revival

Kirtan Soul Revival (KSR) is New York City’s funkiest devotional mantra music experience. Since 2011 they have been fusing traditional Sanskrit mantras, original music, and music from around the world to create a unique, dynamic sound that merges guitar-driven funk, rock, gospel, rhythm and blues, world grooves, and chants. Soul-stirring vocals and three part harmony add fullness and depth to their sound. Calia Marshall, Helen Styring Tocci, and Todd Keller with drummer Terrence Pompey, are all longtime yoga practitioners and musicians. They have created a singular sound in the growing genre of mantra music. KSR brings the connecting power of harmony and a fusion of Eastern and Western sounds to a public craving more positivity, love and community in its music and life.

Kirtan is a celebration of spirit through the chanting of sacred names. KSR invites their audiences to participate fully through call-and-response chanting. Through their simple presentation, even non-singers can easily experience the joy of being surrounded by harmony in a space that encourages improvisation and exploration. The Kirtan Soul Revival experience invites participants to open their hearts to Spirit and to life!

Bhakti yoga has the potential to create deep transformation, both inside of ourselves and in the world around us. This practice can help us to love ourselves and to love one another as we recognize sameness and difference, shadow and light.  In this workshop we will use chanting, discussion and journaling to release judgement of ourselves and others, to explore ways to open our voices and sing in harmony, and to find our individual voice inside of the collective voice. When we sing from the heart we open to our divine potential. We tune our voices and hearts to that which is sacred, so we may use our voices as a tool for empowerment and social change.

Healing with Art and Mantra

Healing with Art and Mantra

20431458_10211285730474100_3740183004414945980_n.jpg

This class will be a healing blend of mantras in the form of kirtan, or call and response chanting, and the creation of art. We will begin with a brief introduction of the history of kirtan and why mantras are such powerful tools. We will also discuss how art and creativity are powerful healing tools and how mantras can help us tap into our creativity. We will start with a session of some call and response chanting to get grounded and settle into the class. I will lead the chants accompanied by my harmonium. Then we will proceed to draw. I will suggest students to choose a mantra to focus on, to mentally repeat or quietly sing, as they draw to get into a flow state. The repetition of the mantra while creating will help with artist’s block and allow students to intuitively create. This process can also facilitate healing if a student chooses a mantra with a specific intention behind it; then their art will be infused with this healing intention. My goal is that students will leave the class with useful tools to help de-stress and enter the creative flow that they can use in their own lives.

Hilary has been leading kirtan for three years and has been immersed in the practice for 10 years. The daily practice of kirtan has allowed her to experience more peace and happiness in every moment. She has been singing for her entire life and loves to share this heart opening practice with others. She has also been painting for over 15 years. The practice of chanting mantras has deepened her spiritual relationship with creating art. Although she primarily considers herself a painter, she is joyed to share her practice of kirtan with others.
