Authentic Movement

“Movement, to be experienced, has to be “found” in the body, not put on like a dress or coat. There is that in us which has moved from the very beginning. It is that which can liberate us.” Mary Whitehouse, founder of Authentic Movement

Authentic movement is the practice of listening deeply to the voice within; that voice of sensation, of impulse, of feeling, of imagination and allowing it to emerge from our fingers, our toes, our tongues and torsos, opening into the space around us and into the conscious awareness of the witness holding space for us to simply be as we are. In this practice, we simply allow movement to unfold, letting go of judgments and the need to make meaning. There are no steps to follow, no music to guide your feet- just the simple Truth of the moment to open into. Together we create the container for each other’s fullest expressions. Simple. Profound. Real.

No movement or dance experience is necessary. You can’t do it wrong! The movement is entirely self-guided and so is appropriate for any body type and ability.

I hope to see you, really See YOU.
